Program of activities hosted by Mission Garden in collaboration with Ajo Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
All activities are informal and educational in nature, in the spirit of fostering a learning community of cultural exchange
8-10am: Planting Tohono O’odham 60-day corn in the O’odham Garden at Mission Garden. Led by Maegan Lopez of Mission Garden and Sterling Johnson of Ajo CSA
10-11am: Traditional methods of harvesting, roasting and grinding corn to prepare ga’iwsa or chicos, traditional dishes featuring roasted corn. Led by Mission Garden and Ajo CSA
11am-12pm: Ga’iwsa and chicos cooking demo and tastings. Led by Ajo CSA chef and Mission Garden staff and volunteers.
9am-12pm: Collaborating Exhibitors
